Sixth commemoration of September 11, 2001 / Letter to the US Embassy in Vienna

U.S. Ambassador to Austria Susan McCaw

Vienna, September 11, 2007

To the United States Ambassador of Austria,
MRS. MCCAW

Estemeed Ambassador Mrs. McCaw,
Estemeed citizens of the United States,

Today will be remembered again as the sixth commemoration of September 11, 2001 in all of the United States and the freedom loving world.

Six years ago terrorists killed over 3000 innocent people.
The loos of the lives from the destruction of the world trade center, the loss of the lives of
fire fighters, police and rescue workers who were all innocent victims of this dastardly attack by the cowardly 19 Al Quaeda terrorists, as well as the lives of those who were killed by the plane that crashed into the Pentagon and Flight 93 which crashed in Pennsylvania, as a result of the brave actions of the other flight members of that plane who would not take this awful act lying down passively, but who showed the world the true nature of America's  freedom loving strength when they fought back with the simple battle cry, "Let's Roll!"

For me, September 11, 2001, will always be a sad day to remember, as long as I live.

This cowardly terrorist attack against the United States of America is beyond any evil act committed in human history.
Furthermore, this terrorist attack wasn’t just directed against your country, but was an attack against free democratic elected nations of the whole world; an attack against the people who cherish freedom, love and universal brotherhood.

Just a few days ago in my own country Germany, German secret service foiled a terrorist attack against American citizens. Three militants from an Islamic group linked to al Qaeda were planning bomb attacks against innocent civilians.

Terrorism doesn’t stop!
Their objective is to destroy the United States and her allies. For me, it seems almost a religious war between so-called militant or radical Islamist movements, who are trying to overthrow and destroy Christian-led democratic governments across the globe, replacing them with a single Taliban-style Islamic fundamentalist theocracy. These terror groups mean to intimidate Christian values and ethics.

9/11 is the time, where we must show the international terrorist groups that we are in solidarity with all people of the world, all races of the world, and that we respect each others faiths and traditions.

May our Heavenly Father console those souls who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and all those left behind, who will always be mourning. May God lead your President and the American people; may God protect American men and women in uniform everywhere, to ensure and to protect man's right, dignity and freedom.

Sincerely,

Wolfgang Schawaller
