Africa: Kingori Kenya Streetchildren Project

Kingori Kenya Streetchildren Project

Simon Kingori and his wife Helen had a dream since 1992, to build a home for children in the slums of Kawangware near Nairobi, where they have more then 12,000 orphans in a population of about 300,000 residents. After Helen passing away in February 2002, through a violent robbery, caused by overall existing poverty, Simon continued to work on their dream and named the project "Kingori - Kenya Streetchildren Project". Besides other activities takes Simon everyday care of street children personally in his home. Since he doesn't have a orphans home, he invites everyday up to five different children, to take a shower eat breakfast and lunch. Once a week (every Wednesday) Simon receives food (potatoes, vegetables) from his parents, who own a farm 250 km away from Kawangware and feed about 30 HIV-mothers and orphans. Much more information you can read on the website www.kenyakids-help.com
Every year some volunteers, mostly students from the USA and Europe come and help Simon to take care for the street children.
In 2006 the project became officially part of IRFF Kenya http://urafikikenya.org/index.php and IRFF Austria http://www.irff-at.org
IRFF means "International Relief Friendship Foundation" and is recognized as NGO from the UNO.
How to support the project can be read at the website. The first big goal is to build a home for orphans in Kawangware and send them to school. We are grateful for your help.

Sincerely
