Foreign mission to South Africa in June 1991

I was assigned to S. Africa in June of 1991. I couldn't obtain a long term visa and I had to leave this beautiful country again.
The black and white problem was very intense that time. I remember most houses in Johannesburg were protected by electric wires. That time you could buy a whole house with garden for just 30.000 US$. Before that, the value of the same house were tripple or more
Most whites left the city for the countryside.

I got robbed at knife point by three blacks one day in Johannesburg. A police officer saw this and aimed with a shotgun at the robbers and I'm in between.
Fortunately, the officer hesitated to shoot, because he might have shot me too
by accident. I was really shocked for a few days.
Most of our foreign missionaries in Africa had this sort of experiences too.
